Our Leisure Time

Dog Walk in Our Neighborhood

No matter the season, the outdoors is where we feel most at home. In the summer, we spend our free time hiking with our dog, Maysel, riding mountain bikes, and tending to our garden. Jason rarely misses a chance to hop on his bike—whether it’s a relaxed “pedal” with Trina, a ride during a dog walk, or a more challenging adventure with friends. Trina loves photographing nature and wildlife, so our hikes in the Rocky Mountains often turn into treasure hunts for wildflowers, waterfalls, mountain vistas, and the occasional curious creature. Gardening at high elevation can be tricky, but Trina brings our yard to life each year with bright, colorful flowerpots.

Because Jason’s busiest season at the ski area is winter and Trina’s busiest season at the flower nursery is summer, we make it a priority to take a week‑long vacation every fall. We love bringing Maysel along on our road trips and have explored Idaho, South Dakota, Arizona, and more. Trina is always searching for the next beautiful destination, and we enjoy finding unique, dog‑friendly Airbnbs that make our trips feel extra special. Winter doesn’t slow us down either. We love hiking snowy trails and cross‑country skiing with Maysel, who learned as a puppy to pull us through meadows and forest paths. These outdoor moments bring us so much joy, and we cannot wait to share them with a child—teaching them to explore, appreciate nature, and find wonder in every season.

Addressing Cultural Diversity

We will approach cultural identity with openness, humility, and a willingness to learn. We would want our child to feel proud of who they are and supported in every part of their story. We are fortunate to live in a small mountain town with connections to a neighboring county with a vibrant Hispanic community. Trina works at a high‑altitude nursery that is part of a larger landscape company employing coworkers from Mexico, Cuba, and several South American countries. Over the years, she has learned Spanish so she can share conversations, listen to her coworkers’ stories, and better support customers who speak limited English. These relationships have given us a deep appreciation for the richness of Hispanic cultures. If we are given the opportunity to adopt a child of Hispanic heritage, we would make sure they remain connected to their cultural roots. We could involve them in this diverse neighboring community and enroll them in the local elementary school that offers bilingual Spanish‑English education and a diverse student body. We would seek guidance from Trina’s friends and coworkers, participate in community events where our child could see racial mirrors in peers and adults, and fill our home with books, music, and traditions that celebrate their heritage.

Qualities We Love, Admire and Respect in Each Other

Enjoying a Silly, Happy Moment Together

Trina About Jason

Jason is one of the most honest and genuine people I know. I feel completely secure with him because he communicates openly and shares his true thoughts with me. Even when he’s direct, he’s thoughtful and kind, offering sincere support. He’s also adventurous and full of joy. Whether he’s mountain biking in the rain or leading us off‑trail to find hidden waterfalls, he brings a sense of wonder to everyday life. I can already picture him teaching a child to ride a bike and exploring our favorite trails with them. I know he will be a playful and devoted dad, creating a home where a child feels both protected and free to discover the world.

Jason About Trina

Trina is the kindest, most caring person I have ever known. Her nurturing spirit shows up in small, everyday gestures—bringing home treats to make me smile, calling from the store to see if I want anything special, or adjusting her plans so we can spend time doing what I love. Her selflessness and warmth make our home feel peaceful and full of love. Animals sense her gentle nature too; our husky adores her, and our friends’ dogs run to her for affection. Watching how naturally animals gravitate toward her says so much about who she is. I know that the love, kindness, and friendship Trina has shown me for years would translate beautifully into motherhood.

Our Extended Families

With Trina's Family

We are surrounded by a loving, connected family who wholeheartedly supports our adoption journey. Trina’s parents live out of state, but we stay close through weekly phone calls and visits several times a year. We also share a special connection in that both our households have spirited huskies, who bring plenty of fun—and fur—into all our lives. When her parents visit, we enjoy traveling to mineral and fossil shows, playing board games, watching movies, and cooking delicious meals together. Trina’s aunt and uncle live nearby and often join in family celebrations, and she treasures her annual visits with her grandmother, aunts, and cousins who live out of state.

With Jason's Family

Jason’s mom, sister, brother‑in‑law, and niece live just a couple of hours away, making frequent get‑togethers easy and fun. Our young niece is a delight and has brought so much wonderment and joy to our lives. Many of his extended relatives are also within an hour’s drive. His family is close‑knit, warm, and genuinely enjoys spending time together. Holiday gatherings, family dinners, barbecues, and outings to parks and museums are traditions they look forward to year after year. Our entire family is excited and deeply supportive of our plans for adoption. Adoption is already a beautiful part of our family story, with adopted cousins on both sides. Everyone is eager to welcome this child with open arms, and our parents especially have shown unwavering love and support for their future grandchild.

Our House and Neighborhood

Our Home

We live in a cozy mountain town in Colorado, surrounded by neighbors who are friendly and always willing to lend a hand. Our next‑door neighbors are close friends with energetic children and sociable dogs who often wander over to say hello. Summer brings burro races and scenic rides on a historic train that winds through the forest. In winter, that same train transforms into a magical ride through a snowy wonderland. We are also just minutes from a Victorian‑style Christmas market complete with horse‑drawn carriage rides. Nearby playgrounds, lakeside walking paths, and forest trails provide endless opportunities for outdoor fun.

Our home is warm, comfortable, and filled with personal touches. Jason’s woodworking hobby has added beautiful custom paneling, shelves, and countertops throughout the house. Our space is decorated with houseplants, crystals and fossils we’ve collected, and handmade quilts crafted by both of our mothers. With three bedrooms, there is plenty of space for a child to grow and thrive. The heart of our home is our kitchen, where we cook meals, share stories, and gather with family. Outside, we have a large yard that offers space for our dog to run, a cozy greenhouse, and a protected, fenced area perfect for a child to play.

From Us to You

Hello, and thank you so much for taking the time to read our profile. We are truly grateful that you are here. We understand that considering adoption for your child is an incredibly difficult and emotional decision, and we deeply admire the strength and love it takes to explore this path. While adoption can involve sadness and loss, we also believe it is built on love and hope for your love for your child, our hope to finally become parents, and the shared hope that this child will grow up surrounded by people who love them.

Although we’ve been married for eight years, our relationship began more than seventeen years ago. We met young and grew together, building a life rooted in affection, commitment, and shared passions. While we haven’t been able to have biological children, we’ve poured our hearts into raising our three huskies as if they were our own kids. They’ve eaten the best food we could afford, slept on our bed, and traveled everywhere with us. Our current dog, Maysel, even has cooler outdoor gear than we do! The love and dedication we’ve given our “fur babies” is only a small glimpse of the love we are prepared to give a child.

We will provide a loving, stable home where your child feels safe, supported, and encouraged to grow into whoever they are meant to be. We bought our home ten years ago, and Jason has spent countless hours making improvements to create a warm, welcoming space for the family we’ve always hoped for. Honesty and integrity guide our relationship, and we will carry those values into our parenting. We will nurture your child’s education and curiosity while celebrating their unique gifts and interests. Trina can’t wait to share her love of nature, books, and science. Jason, who is both handy and artistic, looks forward to teaching this child how to build, create, and learn how things work. And together, we are thrilled at the thought of teaching them to ride a bike, ski, and explore the outdoors as a family.

Our extended family is incredibly excited to welcome your child. As Trina is an only child, her parents are over the moon at the idea of becoming grandparents. Jason is very close with his mom, who already talks about this future grandchild with so much love. Jason’s sister and her husband have encouraged our adoption journey from the very beginning. Our aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends have been supporting us for years, and they cannot wait to embrace this child. Your child will grow up surrounded by family and friends, their children, and a community of people who will love them wholeheartedly.

If you choose us, we will respect the relationship you wish to have with your child. We believe a child can never have too much love, and we want you to remain an important part of their life. We plan to share photos, letters, emails, and video calls so you can stay connected to meaningful moments. As your child grows, we would be happy to arrange visits if that is something you desire. And if your wishes for contact change over time, we will do our best to honor those changes with compassion and understanding. You will always hold a special and irreplaceable place in your child’s heart - and in ours.

Thank you again for considering us. We would be forever grateful for the opportunity to love your child. As you navigate this journey, we wish you comfort, clarity, and peace.

With heartfelt gratitude,

Jason & Trina
